Awnings on horsebox?

Does anyone use, or has anyone used a caravan awning on their horsebox?

In the shed we still have a 12ft awning from my parents old 2 berth caravan, I am contemplating putting an awning rail on my 3.5 ton Renault Master horsebox van and using it as shelter for the horses from sun/rain when out and about, and maybe using it as living space for me when camping at Trec events etc.

ive seen this done at driving events just make sure its anchored down properly and the horses dont freak out if it flaps in the wind etc.

We had side awning on our lorry for driving events. It actually converted into side stabling which attached to the side of the lorry and the awning acted as the roof. Really handy! Wasn't to expensive to do either with a tame welder/metalworker
