Hi all

I've got mains clippers which are fine but I don't have any electricity where the horses are now and was thinking ahead to next clipping season, and wondered what cordless one's you would recommend and why.

I've got the oster power pro clippers and I love them, you get 2 batteries so you can charge one whilst using the other, the battery lasts about 50-60 mins and takes 20mins to charge so clipping can be continuous.
They are also nice and light and the blades just clip on so don't need to worry about tensioning.
I also like the heiniger cordless clipper as its nice and light

I have Moser Avalon cordless clippers.. they are very powerful quiet clippers with fantastic battery life..

I'm a pedantic clipper and can take up to 2.5 / 3 hours to clip a hunter clip (I faff) and have never run out of battery. Battery charges in 3hrs max from empty apparently. Dunno how it's so good as is a relatively small lightweight battery cell.

I've clipped TB's, hunter sorts, a Welsh cob and some ponies with them and they've been perfect but wouldn't reccomend them for a very coarse haired horse/hogging but I think thats the blades I have (Fine & Medium steel blades which are great and 1 set fine ceramics which are rubbish!) as I was clipping out some very coarse feather with them and blunted all 3 sets of blades

ETA the blades are clip on pre tensioned so v easy!

I have the lister liberty clippers. They run off a battery pack that is worn on the belt provided. Originally this put me off but as they dont have the battery actually inside the clippers I found them much lighter. I have to say they are the best clippers that I have ever used.

They are quiet with low vibration, light weight and easy to use. Also I can do about 3 full clips on my super hairy cob, including hogging and face trimming n between, before the blades need sharpening.

I would normally charge the battery up overnight before I use them so I couldn't say exactly how long they take to charge. They have at approx 4 hours of clipping charge once the battery is fully charged. I normally do hogging and a trim on my freinds horse then a full clip on mine, including legs if the vet is about for sedation and I have no problems getting through the whole lot on one battery.

Have taken a picci for you.

Excuse the hairs and muck I just hogged with them!

I used to clip other people's horses who usually had mains, but if I want to do mine this year I don't have the electricity, so charging them overnight at home is OK it's the amount of time they last (be awful if they ran out half way through lol).

Sounds like the last two suggested are good. Thanks for taking the photo.
