i have tried so hard to keep the weight off of my pony, but what ever i tried he still stayed chubby. He was in a smallish paddock with poor grazing and he was still so round. So with your advice (some a little harsh i may add) i put him in a grazing muzzle as advised and clipped him. He gets a sml amount of grass through the hole and a handful of happy hoof in a feed twice a day sometimes only once a day if im on a long shift at work. He wears a rug just a thin one with no filling to keep him a dry and he seems fine. Look at these pics and tell me what you think..............better ??? no gutter bum now lol:D

He's certainly looking very handsome - I was admiring his bottom at the weekend! He seems happier for it too xx well done xx :D

I think she means when you have a 'groove' on the top of the quarters - meaning there is a pad of fat either side. You can see this a bit in the first of Speedygonzalez's pics. It's sometimes called an apple bum too, I think, cos it looks like the top of an apple! ;)
 
Thanks everyone, his tail will hopefully grow back to somekind of normality soon lol, he rubbed it raw in the summer, when he had an accident and had to be stabled 24/7 (box rest) and his tail looked awful, i think it was boredom. his tail looked ok in the before pics, but it looked like a plucked chicken underneath all bald and yucky , so when i clipped him i also clipped his tail at the top in hope it will grow back evenly. I quite like his tail tho :o as he looks like a show pony in disguise :D:D:D
