Thought I'd do a thread reviewing my new body protector incase anyone is looking for a new one in the new year.

I was in desperate need of a new body protector, I'd had my old one for about 8 years  but it hadn't really had a lot of use. Was really stiff and uncomfortable and despite being a kids size still caught on the saddle at the back. Also due to the new standards needed a new one for camp and any xc events I might do. Santa couldn't deliver as didn't know what size I was :p so off we went to the local saddlery with a good stock of most brands.

I tried on the airoware and usg one's first, were ok but quite rigid and felt like michalin man in them. Then tried on the new Racesafe Provent 3, felt the difference straight away really lightweight and slim fitting. Felt very comfortable without having to wait for it to warm up. Today was my first ride in it and I hardly could tell I had it on, didn't make me all hot and sweaty like some others do lol. Didn't catch on my saddle at all and all in all very impressed.

More expensive than some I think the adults was £198 if you're quite petite then you may fit in the child's x large which was £150. I fit in the child's x large and I'm a size 6 but have the sides tightened quite a bit so would fit someone bigger. I think it's worth the extra money and really didn't mind wearing it, would definitely recommend.

This is really helpful as Racesafe were recommended to me but wasn't sure as I've always had airowear. My airowear is getting a bit tired now, had it a good few years and I've lost weight so it doesn't fit as well as it previously did, resulting in a bit of bag which doesn't make me feel too optimistic about wearing it but I need to for hacking! This looks super comfy though and it looks protective without being restrictive which is good. Nothing worse than having a body protector that you feel you can't move in!

A few people at the yard have got usg's @eml so think they are pretty good, they do say they're comfortable but no where near as light or as slim fitting as the racesafe was. I couldn't move as well in the usg and it felt very rigid in comparison to the racesafe. As soon I put the racesafe on I knew I wanted that one.

@SeeingSpots ahh I'm glad you found it helpful :) I'm not a fan of the airowear ones I feel too strapped in if that makes sense lol. This is the newish racesafe one I would really recommend trying one, very lightweight and didn't make me feel double my size. I might actaully start wearing it for hacking in which I never even contemplated before as it was so bulky and uncomfortable. The racesafe are more money but I think it's worth it as I'll wear it more and I felt like I could ride better than in my last one.

Years ago most people on NR wore Racesafe and insisted that one should wear noting else. Pity that they dont fit my wide ribs and narrow shoulders and cant be adapted. When making a custom fit, I am told the only option is to remove a whole panel.

The same dealer (Tree House) have a very good and expensive more flexible brand but it is barely adjustable at all. They tried me in a youths but it was too small.

I am totally fed up about the bp situation as I cant find one to fit. Not since Airowear altered there design to make it more feminine.

I did like my Airowear Outlyne when it fitted. I didn't feel too bulky in it but it doesn't fit well now and I feel it's nowhere near as effective as it should be. I always wear one for hacking because whilst Toffee has never done anything bad, you never know if he will and if, the one time he does, I'm not protected, a fall on hard ground or something out hacking could have dire consequences. I think if something is doing the job how it should, it's worth the money. You can't really put money on life and safety with horses.

That's such a pain, is there nowhere that could custom fit/make you one? x

No eml, I havent. Spelled Kanteq, by the way or you get IT.
What puts me off is that you have to send measurements in and pay before trying one on.
The one bp I fancy is the one made up of hexagonal pieces, but the truth is I wear my Airowear and forget I have it on.

I love my RaceSafe. It's the only BP I've worn and genuinely not noticed it much.

I want a racesafe but they don't fit my body shape. In order to fit round my boobs, the body is too big and it rises up. The airowear is much more adjustable.
