Bridle sizes-large pony/small cob?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Have been trying to get a new bridle for Dandy but not having much luck.

He is either a large pony size or a small cob size.

If I go for pony size we have to have everything on the last hole, and the opposite if we go for cob.

Does anyone out there know of a make/brand that maybe comes up a bit bigger/smaller.

Failing that I'll just have to customise which will work out more expensive.

ps. would really like one with elevator/comfort style headpiece.

I dont know whether you would consider synthetic. Libbys make really good bridles and will customize it. They have all sorts of styles. I know the prob, my exmoor takes a full size head band and throat lash, cob size nose band and pony cheek pieces, I had one made, it was £40, and i can just wash it in machine.:D Alternativley, go to a saddlers which sell each item separatly and put your own 1 together.

I have ended up buying 2 bridles the same for Pickle :o one pony size and one cob size, he has the cob size browband and head piece, pony cheek pieces and noseband :o was the only way I could do it, it cost less that way than buying all separate bits to put together for an english leather bridle ;)

I could not find bridles to fit mine either. So who ever I ordered from..had it customized...at no extra cost. Was the cheapest way to do it in the long run.

What breed is he? Indy is 13hh New Forest X with a big, fat head and everything pony-sized I have bought for her so far has been too small... EXCEPT for her pony-sized GFS bridle!!! :D Still got plenty of holes left.... so I can recommend that as it has growing room for her too :D

I have two different sizes for Storm - she is 15hh and a connie x - so couldn't decide if she was full size, cob size or large pony size!! I have a lovely bridle purchased from Robinsons - which is a full size - its great, quite a generous fit and I have most of it done on the "last hole" if you know what I mean. I also have a dressage bridle - (think its Tredstone? brand) in black - that is a cob size and fits her also - its the opposite of my other bridle in that I use it on "the first last hole" but the hole that makes it the biggest if that makes any sense......
My suggestion would be to go somewhere that you can try before you buy or take your old bridle with you? (always assuming its a good fit).

I saw a customised one in robinsons but cant remember the make. I thought i could do with one coz despite her size Kazz takes a cob bridle but its kind of too long and narrow if that makes sense. I suppose her head must be short and fat!

He's a welsh sec d, but the problem is he's bang in the middle of the sizes, bit like us tryins on a size 12 and its a bit snug, then trying on a size 14 and its a bit baggy.

Really need to find a make that comes up a bit smaller/bigger so i've got room for adjustment.

Hi, I bought a kincade bridle which seems to be quite small made as the cob size was too small for my horse who I would consider to have a cob size head, It was quite a cheap bridle to and pretty good quality so maybe its worth trying that make!
Hope that helps
