Can anyone recommend a natural looking copper/chestnut/auburnish hair colour?

I currently have medium brown hair, and would like it to be slightly chestnutty/auburn, but not too bright. I recently used Superdrug hair colour in Light Copper Brown, as I am growing out dark blonde highlights, and wanted to even out my hair colour. It worked very well and looks natural, but unfortunately I can't really see the copper in it. I've started to use Henara shampoo and conditioner for red hair, and it looks a bit reddish in certain lights, but is very subtle.

I know red is a difficult colour as it fades quickly, and I don't want to risk ending up bright red, so has anyone used a good, long lasting subtle reddish colour that leaves hair in good condition? I don't really mind whether it's a semi permanent or permanent. I've looked at L'oreal Casting Creme Gloss in Chestnut Honey which looks very nice, and Garnier Herbashine in something like Golden Mahogany Brown as possibilities. Any info on these, or other colours thay might be suitable would be appreciated. Thanks.

I went through a red / reddy brown stage few years ago and I found a Tesco coloured shampoo extremely effective (and cheap!). I'm not sure if they still sell it, but the shampoo and conditioner were fab. They did make a bit of a mess of the bathroom though, I had to really scrub around after use cos it could stain. I know Trevor Sorbie do a coloured one too - that actually imparts quite a bit of colour. Have you looked at Boots on line? They have such a lot of the different coloured shampoos. I say this, because I found they worked equally as well as shelling out for an actual all-over colourant.
Having said that, I believe the Garnier colours have a really good name and make your hair quite shiny.
Have you tried the old brand - Shaders and Toners? I spotted some in our chemist a while back - they used to last up to about 5 / 6 shampoos depending on how porous your hair is.

Red henna works for me. Although you need to be careful which one you get as there's one version that's an intense firey red and it's real glaring!!

I like a really BRIGHT red so the ones I like won't be much use to you!! Garnier Movida ones are good and semi-permanent so fade out nicely plus aren't too 'drippy'. I think it was 'Chestnut Brown' that was a nice natural looking reddy shade. Avoid Color XXL if you don't want bright ... I'm liking the look of the John Frieda foam colouring but haven't tried them.
