Sounds like its probably nothing, same as if you move suddenly and your joints click etc

Its said its bubbles of trapped gas popping in the joints.

Me too!!! How bizarre.

7 year old pony has been doing this on and off on different feet when I pick out. I'm very careful, pick up his foot and it's literally as I tilt it upwards slightly before pick it out it feels stiff, then makes this horrible loud single crack noise and it moves freely.

With a young pony and it happening on different corners I thought it must just be like our own joints cracking. Only happened intermittently in the last few weeks and had him almost a year. Very weird

He's certainly not lame though and other than making me cringe is not bothered when it happens to him. You could ring your vet to ask but I'm thinking it is normal.

Don't worry! Usually clicking isn't the joint at all - it's a ligament popping over the joint as you lift it. It's particularly prevalent in youngsters who haven't much strength yet in their ligaments, joints etc. My young horse does it sometimes when I pick his feet up. You can mention it to your vet if he's coming anyway to really put your mind at rest :)

Yes I agree, don't worry. My horse's joints click quite loudly, I can even hear them when I am riding! And obviously if there is no pain or stifness there then I really wouldn't worry as I think 9 out of 10 horses' joints do it too! :)
