Coronavirus

I wonder if the outdoor type person is going to be more resilient?
Being around animals, dirt, the elements, maybe you build up some sort of immunity?

I have to say shopping today I took my coat off, as the heating is way too warm imo. How much air is actually in the supermarkets. Coming from the stables without heating into artificial light and heating, that's what will circulate any bugs, not just this one.

Before being involved with horses I used to catch a lot more illnesses and bugs in general. I think being outdoors (and the lovely time we spend with our animals) can all add up to a positive mind frame which I also think helps us fight off the nasties.

@Bodshi re the flu jab, I’m supposed to have it but I didn’t this year, two reasons, first is our GP do flu clinics, unfortunately these are run on about four Saturdays in October.... when I’m at work! The other is last years flu jab and pneumonia jabs almost put me in hospital, although the GP reckons it was nothing to do with either jab, so it kind of put me off going for a re run.

Another person at work being tested having flown back from Tenerife. I spoke to my friends from uni who were honest and said they would prefer if I didn't come in until I knew their results are negative which I understand. So fingers crossed as I have a practical exam Tuesday next week

Why are they being tested? that's not one of the hot bed countries, or did they fly via Italy? are they symptomatic? are they literally being tested just because they were in an airport? or is this just another person taking advantage of 2 weeks off?

I am trying to persuade my mum who is 92 and has breathing issues, heart issues and 4 carers coming in per day to come to us, she refuses. Will talk to her doctor as if she gets it she will probably die and if her carers get it, she is partially blind, can't make tea, cook, deal with her tablets. Would be better if she comes now while things are ok rather than wait till it is a blooming emergency.

And another conference cancelled and business lost, that's five now, I have sold the princely sum of £400 this month so far.

I think it's wise to protect the most vulnerable, especially when those carers are going from 1 vulnerable person to the next all day long, hopefully she will come around to the idea.

111 told them too. Yes they and their husband are showing symptoms but most likely colds. However she has underlying medical conditions and severe asthma

I believe they are also getting tested so they can return to work asap rather than the other way around.

Ah fair enough then, I've just heard of so many taking advantage when there was really no need to self isolate/get tested

Our work is releasing some sort of statement or contract update that states you'll only get paid for that if it's been advised by a medical professional or you have been diagnosed

I get SSP if I’m off sick, so tend to be in work unless I really can’t be, no chance of me self isolating unless I have too.

I did a bit of a a stock up on toilet paper yesterday. Not as a panic buy but if things get worse I will want to be lingering in stores as little as possible.
So im stocking up a bit on things that you always need but dont go bad.
Layer on I may be grateful to far less time spent.
Some things I will be get at smaller
More local stores if things progress but they are much more expensive but If I don't have to i really dont want to pay $7.00
more for the same large package of toilet paper.
Thats how much more it is at the smaller local store for the EXACT same product.

So far the cases here in RI and Ma
Are still all tied to the school trip to
Italy.

Someone in Tn has tested positive that had done a round trip thru Boston's Logan
Airport but had not been out of the country.

The thing that makes me the maddest is the person that broke quareentine to go to an event has now infected someone else from that event.

That is maddening if they broke their quarantine, seems stupid, they may as well have completed it. This is probably another way it will spread. Lol I keep buying extra toilet rolls, but honestly - you can never have too many!

And what’s with all the panic buying? Are people seriously that concerned about running out of loo roll? I’ll get my sponge on a stick Roman style ready I reckon.

Hahahahhaaaa yes get that sponge on a stick going! lol lol this made mr t laught this morning.
I hate running out of loo roll. Years ago I used to get huge sacks of it FREE! lol I knew someone how worked where they recycled stuff and they used to get dinted packs or slightly damaged packs from Marks and Spencer. It was ace, I just had this huge bag full all of the time. Until they stopped working there and then I had to go back to buying it - and kept running out hahahaha

What's with hibiscrub ???? Can't get any only in HUGE containers. I don't want to pay £40 for one. I don't want a big bottle of it thank you very much. Hyperdrug had sold out of the normal pack sizes yesterday and this morning I tried veovet and they had none either. Are horsey people panic buying it? Or do you think folk are buying it to wash their hands in?! I use quite a lot of it for Storm as she has a cavity which needs keeping scrupulously clean and scrubbed every night before bedtime.
