Do full chaps improve your riding?

mimi+me i can't give you anything scientific but for me they definitely help but my riding is at a very basic level so maybe only good for that. My problem is in canter, tend to grip with my knee when trying to nag them on (also a problem!!) and then have problems keeping my foot where i want it on the stirrup iron. With my chaps my leg is glued to the saddle so can't pull knee up even if i try! Infact the only downside to my chaps i think is when dismounting! I tried to swing my leg back, lent forward and ended up with my face buried in pony's mane and my 'swung' leg 2 inches further back than original position, RI was obviously oblivious to the chaps and just looked at me as if 'WTF??' looked like i'd thrown myself into a passionate embrace with the ponio!! I LOVE them, have just ordered more!!

I bought some mountain horse over trousers to see me thru the winter but after wearing once the stud popped off so have had to send them back and they've now been away for a whole month. Not pleased and very cold:(

:D

You don't surprise me at all - bloomin Mountain Horse stuff always drops to bits after a few wears! I've had numerous coats / bodywarmers all poorly made. Hope you get them back soon!

I LOVE the look of full chaps and now have two pairs;)

I could imagine a 'thick' pair of suede chaps could help your leg position, they
are not the 'lightest' of things.

Loving your 'show tack' Cortrasna:D

Lots of full chaps on E Bay from £20 ish upwards.......

Ladies in the pics - you both look super fab! I want to look that good!!!!

Never thought about full chaps... ALL my friends wear chaps and boots, I'm the only one in long boots. Always have since an ankle injury many years ago (was saved again two years ago when a pony stood on my ankle).

I should make the transition I feel.....
