I mean for me obviously not for Sam:D

I get incredibly nervous when jumping sometimes and when I have had a bad days jumping it can affect me for weeks - other times I am confident and raring to go, but these days are somewhat few and far between:o

Has anyone tried Rescue Remedy before jumping or competing - how long does it take to have any effect, if any at all?

I've never used it personally, but I know a couple of folk who swear by it, both for themselves and their horses!

Don't know about the riders, but I have a friend who gives her horse half an apple with a couple of drops on it about half an hour before the event, but I guess the actual amount you need to give might vary from horse to horse...

I think it works, I always keep some in my handbag, although I don't get outwardly nervous, I have the most extreme butterflies in my tummy that you have ever felt and it just gets rid of the sick feeling for me.

I would reccamend it 100%, I find the spray is the best although a few extra drops in a bottle of water help as an extra throughout the day.

Not sure about giving it to horses, I would assume you would have to give more to them, I swear there was some on her who used to specialise in giving things like flower remedies to horses.. humm..

Never tried it for myself, but have laced a carrot with it for Storm on more than one occasion, now whether its just a placebo effect for me, because knowing she's had it I have more confidence I'm not sure. But I do know a lot of people swear by it. Its always worth a try me thinks!!

Hiya

I sometimes take it before dressage comps :) . What I do is have it handy when I'm on my way and put five drops on my tongue a couple of times during the journey. Our usual journey takes about an hour. Actually then, I've forgotten about it - but on reflection afterwards, there's a "chilled" feeling about me when I'm actually doing the dressage thing. I suppose it's like all of these things, if you believe it will help, then it's likely to help a bit.

However, my brother used it on their very hyper dog, and it did calm her down. (A few drops on a biscuit) I've heard of other people giving it to their horse - haven't done that myself - but I do know that when I'm more chilled, so is ponio! :o

I always use it before shows and Phantom has some too, about 6 drops on a crunchie treat. I also use Rock Rose for hacking him on the road, it's for "fear and terror". Works if you ask me!

Oh that made me laugh:D Actually a glass of wine would probably make me fall off as I cant handle my alcohol at all:o

lol me too!

Sure... I get bolder. But I also get stupid-er... 10fold haha.

And I like the idea of rescue remedy....
where can we purchse this??? coudl i find it at my local vitamin/supplement store? or grocery store?

Well, I bought some this morning and have squirted some on my tongue (I got the spray) - also got the drops for Sam, see if it helps calm him down a bit when he is jumping seeing as he gets terribly excited. Im feeling very calm right now and the butterflies in my tummy have gone away. So I will let you all know how the jumping lesson goes this afternoon :D

OK, just got back from my weekly jumping lesson having used the Rescue Remedy and I can honestly say I felt so much more confident when jumping today. We did have a couple of run outs and a buck at the second jump, however instead of quacking in my boots and getting my knickers all in a twist, I didnt bat an eyelid at his behavior and turned him straight back round towards the jump where we had a little argument before he bounced nicely over it:D I felt so relaxed and just took each jump as it came and then went round 4 jumps together

So its a big thumbs up from me for Rescue Remedy - my two friends who jump with me also took some and said they felt all warm and fuzzy and relaxed so it does work :D

Yep, works for me too! I tried some on my horse once at a dressage comp and he looked like he'd been smoking pot, he was soooo chilled!
