My girl eats part of her bed every night- never caused a problem. Friend of mine bought a pony who she was warned would eat the bed- she gave him more hay than he could eat and a straw bed so deep he was practically swimming in it! Did that for three days and by day three never ate any more bed and she could cut down the hay to 'normal' levels!
