Hello

So tonight I went down to see to new horse and as a treat brought him some whole supermarket oats that I had soaked in a bit of hot water. I only fed him maybe 1/4 cup maybe less. He ate some that were still very hot and it kind of put him off, so I didn’t see him eat anymore when I was down the yard. I’m at home now and worrying that I shouldn’t have given them to him.

I did read up and make sure it wasn’t toxic to them and lots of people feed porridge oats. They were Quaker Whole Rolled jumbo oats. Once i had added the water they were the consistency of a thick porridge/mash and I put them in his feed bowl with lots of water and a bit of his previous food. I’m now worried that it’s going to cause colic or upset is tummy :( Or cause lami? Can someone please tell me their opinion on this? Do you ever feed supermarket oats as a treat? Hes well settled in and has been here almost a month now. Thanks x
