By the air museum!
I read somehwere that feeding marmite to a sweet itch horse can give them some relief as the midges don't like the taste of the horse so much - something to do with the increased B vitamins

Does anyone do this? If so how much marmite do you feed???

I've heard this too and have mentioned it to several friends who have horses that suffer. Don't know the dosage I'm afraid.

I tried it as our old yard was right next to water meadows so the flys were unbearable, 2 out of my 3 refuse to eat it point blank, I think there were a few less flys around the one who did eat it :o
I found it much easier to just supplement their B vits, Its B12 I think that is the one that stops the bugs biting - works for people too :D

Heard it, tried it, and Rhi did not like it, so dont know if it works.

However instead of buying sweet itch solution now I use half and half of surgical spirits and lyclear. Now I know this works. Reciepe I got from Lgd

Not sure if marmite works, but xena gets a small dosage of garlic powder twice a day all year round i think

Been doing this for the past 3 years - squeeze of marmite in each feed and mixed in well so he HAS to eat it! Much easier with the new squeezy bottles so I don't have to touch the horrid stuff!

Does seem to work though - pony been much less itchy since we started using it. Half of our yard use it now even on non sweet itch horses!

mmmmmmmmmmmmm Marmite :D You either love it or hate it!

I've fed my nf a marmite sandwich a day for 6 years! ( he came with bad sweet itch, had rubbed his mane and tail raw) Never had a problem since, he loves marmite ;)

we gave a marmite sandwich a day. plenty of marmite between one piece of bread folded in half. she loved it and it seemed to keep the flies off.

i hate marmite though so the sandwich making was not fun :p

Is squeezy marmite the same as pot-packed marmite because I've transferred some pot marmite into a ketchup squeezy bottle and it's almost impossible to squeeze it out
Don't suppose you can also give me a rough indication of how long a (large) pot (or squeeze bottle) lasts as I have to import the stuff so I'm buying in bulk ...

Thanks :)
