Feeling even worse

I posted a thread a few weeks back about feeling guilty because i can not spend as much time with my horse as i woould like to.How ever i had a girl who was doing light riding on her twicwe a week.
Well luxor threw a paddy and reared and the girl fell off. The girl lost abit of confidence which is understandable, she has text me saying that she does `nt think luxor is suitable for her and she would rather not come and ride her anymore.
I understand if she has lost abit of confidence, but she told me she is experienced and they was getting on really well together,its entirly up to the girl but who hasnt come off a horse before??
I just didnt want alot of people riding her and then changing there mind after they had started to bond, and that is exacually what has happened. She knew everything when she started with her as i went through everything to make sure she wasnt going to be to much and she was adament that she could cope.
So know im feeling even worse because my lil girl isnt even being ridden.I just wish i could find someone who wants to come and ride her, lunge her etc surely that isnt too much. I dnt expect anything in return really its like them haveing a horse without the costs.

I really do feel for you. I can understand the confidence knock but I feel that if this has shaken her that much she may have perhaps exaggerated her experience. I'm not much help to you, but I do hope you find the right person soon.

P.s. Grr, I'm annoyed that I live so far away. I'm looking for a small pony (your signature)!​
 
its one thing falling off but i wouldnt want to be risking myself with somebody elses rearer, having one of my own is bad enough, she might have just though it wasnt worth the risk

hope you find someone suitable soon, it seems very hard these days to get a sharer! good luck :)
 
Awwwwwww I do feel for you, I can understand you dont want people to come along and a couple of weeks later pull out and wish they were more honest when they started out.

We have been looking for a loan horse for my partner and paying towards the horse as well, we have not always found the owners to be completely honest about what they want and thier horses capabilites.
We are always honest about how long my partner has ridden for and his capabilites.

Im guessing you told the girl that your horse rears??

I think maybe sometimes riders think they are more capable than they are,and when hit head on with it, think oops this is more than I can handle...

Good luck you will find a good sharer out there.

One other thing if they are paying towards the share you might find a different sort of candidate ;)

disagree here, im an experienced rider but i cant afford to be possibly injured by a horse that is rearing, aprt from the loss of earnings, who would look after my gang, lol​
 
You weren't to know this was going to happen though so don't blame yourself. That is exactly why whenever someone has asked me of my ability I have always slightly under-estimated it as that way, people won't expect anything more of you, but if they see you better than you said, it's a plus point!!

The best thing you can do is advertise for a sharer and see who replies. It's always word of mouth too so tell people that you're looking for someone to just help exercise and love your horse and somebody may hear about it and be interested.
As long as you're honest (which I don't doubt you are) with what your horse is like and what you are looking for in someone then you can't go far wrong.

She has never reared before.. The girl was riding her and after a few weeks the saddle started to go foward so we changed the gullet to the next size up (as advised) We put the saddle on her and she was fine, we walked her into the other field as my sons pony was in ours and she was fine, the girl mounted her and was all good But within like 5 secounds of the girl sitting on her she just reared i still had the leadrope on her.It is so outa character. she is a tb that is a bit green but never nasty. The only reason i can not ride her is because i am 32 weeks pregnant. ​

Okay. I jumped the gun with that. I assumed that she was told the horse rears.. Forgetting the possibility that it could have been the first time. I will apologise for that. I am however very skeptical when it comes to sharers - when I have previously owned horses I had many sharers who believed they were more experienced than their riding showed.
 
Matchbox Milo- its always the way though isint it:), the horses and ponys that is available are a distance from you.
He is a vry charactable lil chap!

Sounds a bit unfortunate then, neither of you was expecting the horse to rear.

I think you will now need to tell any new sharer that she has reared and explain the situation.

Keep up the search Im sure you will find someone suitable.

I can explain it from the other side.
I share and ride a pregnant lady's horse. Took him to a show 2 week ago, he bronced due to tack, I came off, landed heavy and now I have 2 broken ribs.
My confidence is a bit low at the minute. Give her time to come round, I'm sure she'll change her mind soon enough.

Would it be bad of me to just leave her to graze in the field?? I really love my girl to bits and dont want alot of people on n off her. I thought about putting her out on loan but have had bad experiences before, the other option would be to sell her but i really dont think i could part with her.
Would it be selfish to just have her grazeing until i am ready to get back into it.( not knowing how long that is going to be since it looks like im goin gto have a c section delivery and then however long it takes after that)​
