This little cutie was born yesterday at the barn I board my mare at. Her mom is a dun (or so we think!) and her dad is a cremello. We all think she is cremello, but now someone has said she is perlino. Any thoughts? :)

I think mum is dunskin - She has a cracking dorsal and leg baring. And those eyes, she just looks to me that she carriers creme (hence the foal) and also dun.

Lovely foal, my "vote" is for Perlino, gorgeous colour! :D

That is so cool! We have all had a blast trying to guess what color the foal would end up all during Bailey's pregnancy, but no one ever guessed perlino or smokey cream and no one ever thought Bailey was dunskin. :) Thankyou both for sharing your expertise!

How could we tell smokey cream from perlino? Or would they need to test the DNA to be sure?

Perlinos tend to have more orangey points and a paler body - smoky black has that deeper orangey cream all over. But to be honest to look at they can be so similar you can't say for sure - you'd need to test for E (black) and A (agouti) to be certain. If the results for agouti are aa, and base colour is Ee you've got yourself a smoky cream :)
