So Faran is now a gelding :)

Vet came out today and both ball were there and easy to find. So he got his jabs then a little sedation. After that he snores through the entire process.

Vet was very pleased with him, both temperament wise and build wise. Said he’s spot on for a baby no ribs showing but not fat, nice shiny thick coat and clean eyes and nose. She had a look in his mouth and his teeth look good and are coming in nicely so it’s all good health wise :)

So few weeks for at residual testosterone he has to dissipate and for him to heal up :)

So painkillers and AntiBs for the next five days. He’s getting inhand walks and kept in today then if all’s good and no excess bleeding them it’s out as normal tomorrow :)

This was him ten mins after the vet left :)

OMG poor baby!

He is so handsome and seems very chilled, though I suppose that's the sedation...
He was pretty chilled before the sedation and those pics of him standing were after it had worn off, he is a pretty laid back wee guy :D

@hepsibah it does look brutal but I’ve seen worse flesh wounds from injuries :)

@Trewsers no I don’t think MrT would like it hahaha ;)

Lol'ing at the reactions from people who've never seen a gelding procedure before! Glad it went well.

This was his sheath area tonight :)

It will continue to drip blood for the next couple of days, also the swelling will go up and down. The sudden drop in temp and him going back out tomorrow morning will take most of that swelling down.

That's interesting, the geldings I've seen have been performed with the colts lying down with a towel over their heads.

Glad all went well, good timing with the weather too.

Well, now I can recognise the scar Ziggy has on his sheath! It's looking pretty good. Is his penis swollen too? I imagine that's normal under the circumstances.

Yep the swelling is normal, isn’t actually as bad as I expected either.

He’s a lot better today, he has stopped bleeding at present and his sheath is more it’s normal size, not quite back to normal but it’s only been 24hrs.

I think the cold is helping with the swelling as it’s not too warm up her at present ;)

I love the look on his face in the last photo, he's like 'Mum, really? I thought they were quite handsome!' Thanks for sharing MrC although you could have given us a warning first, was just about to tuck into my breakfast ;)
