A) When do you worm for tapeworm?
B) Does Equest Pramox kill tapeworm?
If not..
Can someone recommend a good tapeworm wormer and would I do that as well as Equest Pramox (she's due it on 28th April).

autumn and spring for tapeworm - or 6 monthly intervals. Use a wormer specified for tapeworm and check the required dosage. Tapeworm wont show on worm count from a dung sample, but your vet can blood test for it if prefered.

Gill here on NR is an excellent source of advice on worming, as is this site -

i am about to order equest paramox as my guy is due and i was under the impression that it covers for tapeworm, however our vet (new) said not to use it and then went on about worm counts and ivermectin, think i am just going to order paramox

as far as i know praziquantal (and ingredient in pramox) kills tapeworms. ivermectin kills Roundworm, redworm and bots... ?
i've just used equimax - praziquantal and ivermectin

I wormed today and used Strongid P (double dose if worming for tapeworm which i was) Equest pramox is for tapeworms and should be used now in the spring.

Coincidence that I saw this thread as I was about to fill out my worming records. I have used Equest Pramox on Fresca today!

According to box it covers; large redworm, small redworm, lavae, developing redworm, stomach worm, intestinal thread worm, bots, and tapeworm and effective against benzimidazole resistant strains.

Basically it was sold to me as an 'all in one wormer' - not sure if thats the case but used it this time.

Not suitable for in foal mares or lactating mares so Tilly still needs two wormers.
