grazing muzzles that actually allow the horse to eat..

Can you leave the Dinky Rugs Muzzle on 24/7 as pony will be living out with my two horses from 1st April in a rather large paddock but I feel that if I took it off for any length of time she will make up for lost time if you see what I mean :wink:

I would not leave a Shires or Dinky Rugs muzzle on 24/7. The ponies always seem very glad to get them off after 8 hours maximum - they get hot/sweaty and it must be lovely to get fresh air on their faces. I would invest in a Greenguard, if you are not able to bring your pony in off the field.
My two are only out during the day and only wear their muzzles in one particular field, as I am trying to avoid using them as much as I did last year. Otherwise they are on a track area or in a small paddock below the house, which has really rough grass and hasn't been grazed for about 18 months.

I live Frankie's Shires muzzle on 24/7 with no problems, he can eat grass, hay (if out in field), hedgerow, nettles through it and drinks fine.
Mine also wear their Shires ones 24/7, unless being ridden of course! I always go a size larger, and they have no problems eating/drinking, and don't get sweaty. They do sometimes rub a bit of hair off, but strategic padding/vaseiline helps that.

Does anyone know if the small greenguard one fits a shetland pony, as they only seem to do small or large?
angel takes a large size, but some of the very small ponies on the yard get away with the small size 
if its eg a shetland or section A or similar, a small should do, if its chunkier like an exmoor or a new forest etc. i'd got for the large size.

I really prefer the Greenguard although I don't have an option as pony will spend 30min plus removing any other type. The Greenguard (my vote is for the new shape) doesn't seem to stress her and I prefer the more natural grazing stance it provides - the bucket ones always seem a bit "nodding donkey" if you know what i mean:unsure:. I have mine attached to a leather headcollar rather than the one sold for the muzzle. Really recommend them.
