Following on from Tikkitti's thread what breed/build/horse/pony do you have, it got me thinking about my cob. He is not the typical Irish traditional type as in heavy with lots of feather, i think their maybe a bit o welsh d in him but my trimmer thinks he may have some friesian in him because of the way he moves and the way he holds himself, he stands very proud. He is very opinionated and can be argumentative, but if you are fair with him he can be very loveable lol so just for fun what does everyone else think

I'd say there's more Welsh cob in there than Friesian too. Friesians have a short sloping croup and low set tails whereas the Welsh breeds have a higher tail set and more rounded quarters. The third pic says Welsh more than Friesian to me. But then I could be wrong!

To be honest Im usless at guessing breeding but would agree with seeing more welsh d type in him than friesian, but Im also a cob owner who would love to know whats in my coblet I will list a pic of my boy to get others opinions soon.x

can definitely see the welsh in there. I agree with the comments above. He maybe crossed with a more traditional hairier heavyweight cob

Well Thanks, @Wally ,@chev ,@tikkitti and @candyman... seems like everyone is thinking along my lines of a bit of welsh d in him... maybe lol ,except for @eml who can see neither but thinks the best cobs are a bit of everything....i can totally understand that also lol
So @tikkitti where is the pic of your coblet so we can all have a guess ;)

Okay here's a few pics but as I'm hopeless with technology I only have a few pics on my phone, and have had to also take a pic of a photo I have so you see one of him out of his winter woolies, but will try to get a couple more tonight or tomorrow depends on the weather its pouring down here ATM.x My ri thinks he may have a little Percheron in him somewhere?

A bit about him he's 15.1hh, 9.5" bone, gorgeous nature although very cheeky and with pony attitude. He's a big, strong boy, loves his work, forward and quite joggy, has to be ridden in a contact or would take the mick, can jump although have been doing corrective schooling ATM due to a back issue from before we got him. Has furry feet if left but quite a fine coat and tail. The photos are awful, I really will have to take more. Tbh I don't care what he has in him but still curious as to what others think. x

Tikkitti: Definitely looks to have some true heavy horse breeding in his build, but I wouldn't have said Percheron, Shire or Clyde though, as he has no outstanding traits, look at other draft breeds, especially more compact, smaller heights and more commonly solid colours, like Ardennes.

Can I join in and post pics of Zak? His breeding is a total mystery to me! Apart from some appy somewhere. Or I can start a new thread if you don't want to be hijacked!!

Hi, yes of course, join in. I gave the first op 24 hours ish then posted mine so as not to confuse things but your welcome. Guessers will just have to say which horse they are guessing about:) x

@tikkitti , he is a lovely big boy:) I would think more along the lines of a cob x irish draught ?
