Have you ever had peeling coronet band area of hoof?

He seems fine but this is odd, my trimmer is here tomorrow so will check with her. Just wondered if anyone has seen anything like this before. It's all 4 feet, ignore the messy clay

It'sthe periopole (not sure on spelling) and is nothing to worry about. Where then weather has been so crazy it's got wet then dry so many times that some of it peels away, a little bit like the cuticles on our nails will.

Mattie's feet used to do this after wet weather. My trimmer also said it was nothing to worry about.

Yep, periople peeling is normal, it’s just more dramatic with this weather.

Thanks all, his periople always peels in winter, this just seems a lot deeper like it's actually eating into the hoof wall rather than sitting on top. Will see what my trimmer says today and she will probably agree with you all!!
