My gorgeous beast, as of tomorrow, is back on working livery. Flash has an army of fans who will be pleased to see him.
11th Sep: hairline fracture to his leg.
6 weeks of box rest.
Gradual return to work.
79 days after he went into his box, I turned out a fire-breathing dragon, back into his field.
16 weeks after the injury he feels WONDERFUL.
The last 2 times I have schooled him, I have had him working really nicely, and ROUND. I never had that before!
I’m ridiculously proud of what we’ve achieved- on September 10th I knew very little about horse care. What to feed them, how to put on stable bandages, how to even muck out a box, build banks and put a bed down...
I can now go to the field gate and yell for him, and he’ll come and find me! No need for trudging through all the mud to get him in! He was grass livery before- but since he went lame, I’ve splashed out on a box for him as he seems to prefer it. We’ve got an actual partnership to speak of.
We’ll be doing 2 dressage tests next Monday. I just hope we’re able to turn on what we’ve had whilst schooling in the actual test.
Thank you so much to everyone here who has listened to my woes, and helped me, and cheered us on. Here’s to 2018 and all that it holds. I’m excited.
Here’s the Disney soundtrack version of him going back out to his field. The music is from Tangled, when Rapunzel leaves her tower.
