How long to work?

Does anyone know how long bute takes to actually work?

It obviously depends on the horse, the situation and the dosage, but in general terms - how long after administering the dose does it take to kick in?

Anyone know ?

By injection - within 20 minutes...............

I used to give the oral paste to my horse and wouldn't take that long. I'm not sure but I don't think it was more than an hour. It was so long ago...

Thanks Saje. That's what I guessed at too . But I'd be interested to know of anything more definitive.

Sorry, no idea of a definative time for a horse. One of the NR vets should know though

Oral meds in humans usually take about 1/2 hour to kick in, depending on whether recently ate / drunk (can accelerate absorption). Don't see why first stage of horses' gut mucosa would vary that much.
