I feel really silly asking this as I have purchased before but normally a replacement so knew the size.
Need a new girth for my treed saddle and measured and bought one but it was about a foot short!! I am used to dressage girths mind you.
How do you measure for one and is it any different for an elasticated one?

I'd say you'd get someone to hold the end (at the beginning) of a tape measure on one side against the girth strap, on the hole you want to fasten the girth on - probably 3rd or 4th hole from the bottom, to allow for adjustment. Then pass the tape measure underneath round to the other girth straps and see what the measurement is when the tape measure is against the hole you would want to fasten it on. If you're on your own I suppose you could stick it with sellotape on the first side at the hole you would want to use.

Hope this makes sense - I'm feeling totally brain dead, so I could well be talking rubbish!
