How Would You Explain The Aids For Trot And Canter?

My sister is getting back into riding after a 20+ year break.

She's been hacking Crofter and I'd like to give her a "lesson" - how would you explain how to ask for trot and canter?

Trot: have a nice walk, pick up the reins and squeeze with both legs

Canter: Pick up working trot and the taike the reins, wait for a corner and then sit and squeeze.

trot: activate the walk, keep contact with the reins and pushing on with the legs
canter: activate the trot, inside bend (in a corner is best), half halt, inside leg on the girth outside leg behind and push on with the legs
