Now, I've not had a horse full time for nearly 4 months now, since my mare went out on full loan.

My friend goes away on vacation this week and has asked me to look after her cob during the week.

Only thing is, she's told me I can keep him in this week but what time do you pull a horse in for the night?! And what time to chuck out in the morning? I'm intending on riding in the mornings whilst he's in and clean, and then turning him out after and finally mucking out and prepping his bed for the following night.

Does this sound okay? Am feeling MIGHTILY stupid because A) Stumpy never stayed in! and B) I've not done this looking malarky for a while!!:o

You will be fine, it will all come flooding back!! :D

On the odd occasion that i have kept mine it I would bring them in about 6ish then get up there about 7 in the morning ready for feed and going out.

Well Fleur goes out about half 7ish in the morning. Then comes in around half 4 to 5 o'clock. But I ride her in the evenings so lets say her night time hay goes in about 6 half 6ish.

Hope this helps :)

heyyy my pony stays in now and i bring her in about 5 half 5 ish if im going to ride if im not i dnt get her in till about 6 ish then i turn her out about 8-9ish and she seems happy doing this but on a school day she goes out at 6:30 before school. hope this has helped you :D

J goes out around 7 and comes in around half 5/6ish. this coblet might not be too impressed with being kept in even longer in the morning though to be ridden, you'll have to see how it goes! also might depend on what else is stabled overnight and what time they go out.

or have i read that wrong and he's normally stabled overnight?

also, enjoy smelling of horse wee for the week!

I'd ask her what time he usually goes out or if there isn't a specific time - ask what the rest of the yard does

not much point in changing his routine if you're only looking after him for a week :)

It depends on the horse and the yard. If others are coming in then I'd try and bring in at roughly the same time so that the horse isn't left out on his own. Sometimes the YO will also say what time the horses have to be in by (and possibly out by in the mornings). I don't like to put out later than around 9am-ish :)
