If anyone has any spare kind vibes for my old cat

How your poorly one doing. Have the antibiotics helped. Have you rebooked op?
I've been cat sitting this week for someone and it's been very challenging as there little one has been ill for a while and has been wasting away. Vet visits have not really been able to determine the issue so they've decided to let nature take its course as its less stressful for the cat. Unfortunately it's not really eating now so I've been offering what I can to keep it going but I think it's at the end of the road.

Yes he's booked in for Monday so I hope the weather plays ball. He's doing really well in himself, chirpy and happy enough and his eye problem has cleared up, so maybe a combo of the antibiotics and the steroid eye drops. I am worried for him though as there is a risk with anaesthetic isn't there and he's an old boy. Vet won't / can't guarantee anything when pressed, mr trews asked if he would be okay and she couldn't commit - and quite rightly as they don't have a crystal ball. But she said his heart sounded fine.

Sounds like the cat you are cat-sitting is a bit like my own beloved Flatcat who died a few years ago. She was ancient and I inherited her along with this house - she allegedly had been here for a very very long time as a barn cat. Anyway, we had a few happy years together and she got thinner and thinner. I had the vet out to her as I wasn't going to stress her taking her in (she was tame but not a house cat). She ate less and less and we just tempted her when we could with whatever she would take. Just before Easter one year she passed away in the utility room in a little bed I made for her on the worktop. (By this time she had gotten quite tame with us and loved our garage and utility). Vet came out and gave her a steroid injection and said it would either perk her up again or not. She died peacefully later that day. It really was just like she was snoozing and dreaming at one point and I literally went upstairs to do something, came back down and she had gone over the bridge. I am glad she passed away here though and not at their surgery, she would have been very frightened. I miss her every day.

Well tomorrow is the big day. Just cleaned the cat carrier in readiness (keeps getting covered in cat litter dust!).
We have to be there super early with him - so I hope he plays ball and lets mr t catch him. My stomach is all squidgy with worry and I will be glad when they say he can come home which will hopefully be alive and well and around lunch time!
Least the weather isn't meant to be raging like last time when it was cancelled. I'll spray some Feliway on the carrier later on when its dried out. And put his favourite blanket in there too. Please keep him in your thoughts - he needs all the good wishes he can get. He's perky as anything and his eye looks normal again. Just hope his little heart can stand the anaesthetic but we can't leave him with rotten teeth.

Bless him, he's back in the land of the living! Thanks all for your good wishes. He was very sleepy still on the way home but when we opened the cat carrier he was glad to get out and has been looking around all his familiar places in the garage and utility room. His little face is swollen but apart from that (touch wood) all seems well. He's got lots of cat soups and Purina hydralife sachets until he can manage something a bit more substantial. I think that he will manage the little salmon mousses I buy for him and I've got lots of those for him also tuna and chicken flavour. They are so forgiving aren't they - he came and climbed onto my knee for a short while. Though I suspect he will be avoiding mr t as he was the one who lifted him into the carrier this morning.

Pleased to report he is looking much perkier. The vet gave me a print out showing which teeth came out. He went in there this morning and he only had four anyway! Golly. He will be so much more comfortable from now on. And he lives off soft food anyway.

And the bill was much LESS than predicted.
This morning I signed the consent form and she estimated it would be £750.
Came to get him this afternoon and thought I was hearing things - it was £162!!!!!!!!!!! Now that is the FIRST time that has ever happened to me lol. Happy happy so will be donating to a cat charity that I follow on FB as they have a food shortage. So happy to be able to treat them. ❤️

So happy today, he was up and greeting me this morning and has had a little leg stretch outside. Lovely perky old boy - here he is with Mrs Mack;
