Does anyone know any good livery yards near to Hamilton or Glasgow as I work in the city.

I am looking for Full Livery or very cheap DIY with good facilities preferably an indoor school as I work shifts. Turn out not so important as my boy is not allowed out until May due to an abcess.

Any info re facilities and prices would be fab.

Thanks for the help

Hiya,

Here are a few links to some (the computer wont let me make them a direct link so you may need to copy and paste :( )

Yard 1 http://southburn.6te.net/

I have been on this yard. Extremely well run, Daily turnout year round. Full Livery - £85 a week. If your horse is on box rest it is an extra £5. The YO is fantastic. Excellent in emergencies. Yard has alot of facilities. Excellent hacking - on and off raod. Other liveries are lovely.

Yard 2 http://www.roundknowefarm.co.uk/

Well known Riding school. Havent been on it myself though

Yard 3 http://www.scottish*********.co.uk/

I had a space at this yard, but didnt take it only as I found a yard 2 mins from my house. Have heard superb reports about it. I was quoted full livery at £65 a week.

Hope this helps. I have a list of other yards in the area. Just let me know if you want more info.

I like to the look at them. I just need to figure out the distances from my home.

I know Roundknowe is full and has been for awhile.

I am just so confused. I have a big boy 17.1HH are there stables big enough at the other 2 yards. Also I couldn't read to the yard 3 web address.

Thanks again I appreciate the help.

Yard 1 - definately. Most of the horses on the yard are 16hh and over.

For yard 3, if you type in 'Scottish Horse Help' into Google, you are looking for a link with the title 'Rhoss Dhu'. That is the name of the yard.

BurnBank Equestrian Centre closed recently I think. There is Greenfields of Avondale in Strathaven. That has fantastic facilities, with JumpX course, XC, outdoor/indoor school. They hold regular training and competitions as well.

South Cathkin Farm does everything from DIY to full. Website doesn't have a huge amount of detail on it, but it's here:
http://www.horse-shavings.com/

I can't remember what the full livery cost was, as it wasn't what I was interested in, but it's £25/wk DIY, and you buy all your hay, feed and bedding direct from him (prices are fine, and has or can get most things). You can get assistance as and when needed. Indoor school, flood-lit outdoor school, turnout sand paddocks, mainly off-road hacking. Photos on the website are only part of the yard (the full livery and indoor school/outdoor school). Everyone is friendly and atmosphere is generally relaxed. No restrictions regarding bringing on your own instructor, although there's a BHSI who visits every 2 weeks as well.

Don't know if they've got any DIY spaces left or not, but think there might be 1 full livery space left. Might be ok location wise, it's maybe a slight detour from Glasgow to Hamilton, but one of the other owners works in Hamilton and lives in Glasgow, and it works well for her :)
