at the riosk of being self indulgent just wanted to share my lovely wkend hack wiv people on site - went out on sat with daughter & tiny pony , ruby [big hoss]started well - bumped into some guys fromn local racing yard who kindly waited for us rather than cantering in our sight [ruby has issues with that] & then bless their cotton socks - held big race horses back so that 12.2 pony could get to top of hill first - my daughter [who didnt see all the holding back] was delighted to be the winner, ruby was keen to stay with race hosses all afternoon so spoked & grumbled once we went off on our own, lost stirruops at mega spook [well it was a v scary twig] & almost endeed in ditch - daughter who never notices anything while riding acually said u nearly fell off then - would have been gibbering wreck 18 months ago - soooo proud [is that 2 close to smugness will prob fall off at walk as a judgement now] & it didn;t rain
how was every 1 elses wkend

Just seen this thread, and the image of a little pony beating the race horses up the hill, made me laugh ! Bet the lads had a smile on their faces at the little girl and her pony who 'won the race'.

I so agree with you, OH and I often saddle up and just go off wandering in the countryside, stopping at a pub or ice cream van en route. The horses love it and what better way to spend an afternoon, ambling through fields and woodland with the occasional canter, watching the sunset in no hurry to get anywhere or acheive anything. Time and all the deadlines of the real world seem to stop their demands for a few hours, best therapy ever.
