Mouse's herd have moved to a new field to benefit from the yummy spring grass but with the long grass comes those dreaded ticks. They all have lots of tiny black ticks on their faces - too small and too numerous to remove by tweezing. Can anyone suggest what we could put on their faces to make the ticks drop off?

While I'm at it just a pic of the gorgeous boy, cos I lubs him :inlove:

Ew! Gross!

Can anyone say if there's a Spot On equivalent for horses, which kills the ticks when they bite? I know you can get it for cattle.

I took a herd of the little buggers off Hebe's nose this morning. The farrier said that Spot On spray will keep them off. If you smother them with vaseline they suffocate and drop off, but I don't know if vaseline will prevent them. Some people say feeding garlic will keep them off, but I'm not sure whether garlic's good for horses ...

I just pick them off with my (short) fingernails.

I have only seen one or two tick son the dogs here, thank goodness it's not a problem here.

Ew Ewww Ewwwwwwwwwwwwww ticks just make me feel all funny a:)

Only ever seen them on dogs which is bad enough spesh if they have been feeding for a few weeks...YUCK...massive nasty white things :cold:

be careful picking them off if embedded. Seen nasty infections on dogs from that.
Tick fork better and safer or twiddle them anti clockwise.
Frontline only works briefly on ticks. Advantix for dogs is the best and where I used to live you could pick 20 plus off your dog daily.
Not sure whats licenced for horses but I use Cooper Spot On for cattle although we have no tick in the Pentlands........yet!
