Wonderful Wales
Cousin and I had a demo last week of the Equissage handheld and back pad something we had won from HOYS. Took Hardy who definitely seemed more supple and forward going afterwards. Also tracked up really well. Not sure if the treatment with the handheld or the back pad did the trick:confused:. The consensus was the we really liked the handheld for being able to target specific areas however, in reality we would probably not have time to use it as a regular part of our routine so the back pad would be more sensible as you could place that on and leave the program run and go off and do other jobs. Anyway, had a horrid shock at the price £1400 for backpad and £700 for handheld - so no purchase made:o.

Have since seen the Equilibrium massage pad which covers a larger area of the horses back and retails around the £200 mark which is more in my price range.

Does anyone have the Equilibrium? Be grateful for your comments and thoughts:)

Sorry, I've not got one but would love to hear some reviews - I've read about the massage pads in Your Horse, but would like to hear if anybody on here has got one or used one. Thinking about our oldie and wondering if he'd benefit. Hope somebody else replies!

Thanks for the reply Trewsers:). I could see a definite positive change in Hardy after the Equissage. I am really wondering if the Equilibrium would provide the same results. I have seen some positive reviews on HH forum from some old posts but was hoping to have feedback from NR.

Maybe I will just have to bite the bullet and be the first to report back:D.

My boss has one for her eventer and she loves it!!!! :D
Both of them do actually, lol!!! She nearly falls asleep with it on!!! She puts it on for 20 mins to lossen her up so, bosses horse can be quite difficult to ride at times bucks ect. But if we use the massage thing she's a different horse alot more willing and easier to ride :) which makes for happy me!!! And boss lady!!
I would reccomend seeing how it's improved her way of going and it's a fraction of the cost. If your not happy e-bay it!!! :)

Equissage

Hi Fjiordlady, I have had an Equissage demo and think it is brilliant, and it helped my old bones too! Pony again tracked up better, looked free and I was a real sceptic, just said yes because Demo was free!

Not seen the Equilibrium, though so can't compare.

A friend of mine has bought the Equissage hand held and body machine and now goes round to other people's horses and charges £30 a time. Might be a new bus for someone. Also dont know if they told you but you can have it on credit, I think she is paying £40 a month.

Anyway the reason I didnt have one is I needed a saddle first, and until that is found and paid for I can't have anything else. I would def get one if I had the money!

Never used an equilibrium but I have got an equissage. All mine and everything else I've used it on loves it. I think it's excellent for maintenance and can be good for injuries (I got mine as being the only viable alternative at the time to regular physio for my horse which for various reasons wasn't an option). It did make a huge difference. Looking back on videos now my horse still moved stiffly, but it was about 1000x better than without using it!

That said, after a discussion with a chiro a few years ago, I'm wary about using it on injuries or on horses with problems. They said it would be too intense for certain conditions and used some sort of ultrasound pad instead I think. After a couple of session with that they said the equissage would be fine, but they really wouldn't have recommended using it at first. As a result of that I won't now consider using it on anything other than my own or friends horses. I was considering hiring it out, but the reality is you can't get any kind of indemnity insurance for treating other horses with it and I feel you could easily end up in a situation where someone could say it wasn't a good thing to use and, quite frankly, you're setting yourself up for being sued imo.

So yes, I do like having it and I think they are really useful, but not necessarily a good option for everything, which was something I hadn't realised (all I knew was not to use it on open wounds). I'd guess that the equilibrium would have similar problems associated with it. They are also incredibly expensive but really the market they're aiming at isn't the single horse owner, it's the yard owner or string of competition horses owner.

I do also prefer the equissage over most other things I've seen since as it is possible to use it on a range of horse sizes, including small ponies. Most things seem designed with horses in mind and I got some very strange looks when someone last year tried to sell me a massage rug thing (I wasn't interested, was just being nosey looking at it) and I asked if they did one that would fit from a 41" shetland up to 14hh+. Obvious answer was no and second obvious answer was they didn't do anything to fit ponies. I wouldn't want something without that versatility as it's not only my ridden pony who may have problems.

Thanks for all your input:).

I have gone ahead and purchased the Equilibrium (because that's within my budget) - Hardy may need another new saddle soon:rolleyes: so need to keep some readies for that.

Will give some feedback after using on my lot a few times.
