I went to a Medieval Fair at Berkeley Castle today, and while wandering the tents, came across a company who make medieval style saddles, and something really clever! A medieval saddle cover which fits over your normal english treed saddle!

In case anybody's interested, I did take their card! Their website is: http://www.hightowercrafts.com/page18.html

That is very cool! :D
All we need now if for them to make a treeless one! I wonder if that cover would fit over my saddle? :D

The knights and maidens they had were fantastic! The jousting was absolutely amazing, and one of the women riding in the Hunt was fantastic - if I could ride like her I'd be thrilled! :D She was really amazing :D

I don't see why they couldn't make you a cover for the Ansur Konklusion...

Ooooh! I work at Berkeley Castle. I was working in the tearooms today.. if only I'd known you were visiting I could have arranged some tea and cake for you!

I didn't get to see any of the jousting action myself, too busy clearing tables

Oh wow how weird! Tea and cake would have been lovely, although I was a pig and had a spud, a crepe, 3 donuts and a triple ice cream :o

The jousting was fantastic - the purple knight horse had a really scary looking fall though! Still haven't worked out whether or not it was meant to happen - the black knight looked a little baffled...

Sadly I don't know, but they were really excellent! The Donna Isabella's horse was absolutely stunning! :D

wow thats really cool:D right im off to get designing for mine and merlins first fancy dress;)

will post the outcome

Years ago the Knights of Arkley came to the riding school where I was working to do a demo thing. The two yard managers also joined in, the school manager on one of the really steady (lazy) school horses to give her something fum to do, the livery manager chose one of the thoroughbreds (also quite lazy) to ride. I will never forget Lady (lazy cob) actually galloping!...or the livery manager slamming into the fence cos he had no brakes..... ;) (It was a bit of an 'I told you so' moment!)
