Merry Christmas - not at the moment...

Well, poor old Alfie. Couple of weeks ago OH took him for his evening walk, just to the park, and has no idea what happened, but Alfie was 3 legged coming home. Hind leg just useless. Took him to the vet, who thought it was his ligament. Gave him anti inflammatory, and saud come back in a week if no better. So - no better. Took him back today, and he's booked for x days on Monday, and depending on those, an op on Wednesday (most likely, according to the vet). £1000 - pouf! Gone. Poor wee boy. :(. At least we're insured.

Oh dear poor Alfie. Hope what ever it is can be fixed. Sending some healing vibes.

I was talking to someone today whos just recieved there insurance renewal and its gone up over £400. Admittedly the dog is getting on and they have claimed in the past. They only made a small claim earlier this year. But to put it up that much seems a bit extreme. Think it was going to cost £150 a month. I said thats more a month than my two horses.

Aw poor lad, hopefully it's not as bad as they fear and the xrays will say lots of rest will cure that poorly leg.

and x rays are not always great help. Buddy's were terrible but after a month he came sound and is still sound. As my vet says you have to judge the horse not the picture, i hope it gives you some answers!

I hope it all goes well Huggy and lots of get well very quickly vibes for Alfie.

Just had both dogs at vet today, nothing major (well so we thought!) but the bill would indicate both of them must be terminally ill at least  and yes, we ALWAYS without fail start to rack up bills like this in the weeks leading up to Christmas and have done for the last 50 years or so. :(

Poor Alfie. Hope he is behaving himself and keeping quiet while that leg heals (I know from experience what a challenge that can be). Best wishes for a speedy recovery x

Oh, the vet bills just seem to come out the blue around now don't they? There always seems to be a few just before Christmas...............

Vet just rang, his op went well, and fortunately the socket isn't damaged, they've repaired the ligament, and he had a meniscal tear which they've repaired also. Should be able to collect him teatime. Going to put a couple of soft blankets out so he has some snuggly areas to bed down.

Aw glad it went well, I'm sure he'll make a good recovery with you - the snuggly areas sound lovely too.
