Hi
I am not very good with names but you want something that is going to be easily picked up on a search engine if you are going online- people will always put in horses - so maybe a name that has that in your title- your tack business may benefit from having tack in your name - hope that helps from a horsemad person that will search the web and wants an easy life to find out what I want- needs to be instant if you want business x

Ahh but for most search engine advertising you have to pay horsemadmandy.

Im crap with names so wont try. But you may struggle with suppliers vikki, they only stock certain places within a distance from their other suppliers, hence why some shops have some makes, and others have other makes.

Il pm you ;)

Bits n' Pieces
Horse Haven
Saddles n' Stuff
Boots n' Breeches
Pony Pieces

(you could add equestrian to the end of any that are a bit ambiguous!)

or make up a slogan - for all your bits n pieces, boots n breeches visit us at saddles n stuff!

Yes I know that's bad :o :p

You don't actually need to pay for search engine listings - what you pay for is to get them listed quicker & in appropriate groupings, and at the top of the search listing (for a short while).

As soon as you decide on a name for your store you should register the domain name & set up a home page even if it just displays something like 'Coming Soon ...'. What you need to ensure is that the meta tags in the heading of the site with your key words & descriptions are all set up. The search engine spiders will then identify your home page and store the tags into the search databases which will make it visible in the search results. If your unsure about how these work go to one of the big name sites right click & select view source. It'll give you an idea of the sorts of things to include.

When your picking your store name something without apostrophes & such work better in the search engines. It's worth checking your shortlist against available domain names too, lots will obviously have gone so that may limit your ideas a bit too. Try & stick to .co.uk & .com rather than the other ids like .org etc & if poss get both the .co.uk & .com names it's a small additional layout & means that people looking for your site don't end up with a competitor. Watch out for the potential for your name to be mis read when you run all the letters togeather for the web address. There are lots of famous cases of this - like the pen shop called Pen Island - looks innocent enough like that but as a web address .... well I'm sure you can figure it out!

As for names - I'm rubbish at that bit but happy to help on the techy side :)
