...Natural Horsemanship? I just don't get it.

In my m any years of experience, using draw reins is certainly not good horsemanship. Anyway, as soon as the reins are taken off, the horses head goes right up again!!! Better take longer over schooling the horse than use gadgets for a quick fix.

It's about behaviour and how to use natural behaviour to construct more effective training. Because it is more effective, it needs less force.

Natural Horsemanship is about using the horse's natural instinct and communication systems. Nothing else.

surely the only way to do it?
the only way i can do it anyway, as a puny female training and starting flighty animals wieghing up to a ton on my own, that's how i've done it for years

long before i even heard of Natural Horsemanship

dash it all, i could of made a fortune, missed the boat again....

Sorry guys deleted my post after thinking that it wasnt fair to talk about someone I know, however innocently I meant it x
I still stand by the concept of just spending time playing with your horse, and getting to know them, and you dont need to follow a defined program for that. However, it is effective for a lot of people and so I cannot judge.

It's been said before - the "method" is only as good as the person who is using it. If someone is ineffective and wants an excuse to avoid riding their horse, they will get those results whatever they claim to be doing. :)
