Nebo Black Magic

Thats that welsh D stallion that everyone wants a foal from, right?

Most of the people I know who own younger welshes have Nebo black magic somewhere in their lines...my questions simple really. Since he has so many foals/so many D's have him in their lines, wont that cause quite a problem with inbreeding and decreasing gene pool sizes etc.? Therefore possible mutations within a few generations of him? I was thinking about this the other day (instead of revising  ) and wont all D's in the future be decendants from him, and itll all be slightly messed up and inbred?

Well, wasnt sure where to put this, as its a discussion, but about breeding so i'll put it here :)

Any thoughts on this, or clearing things up a bit for me would be appreciated :)
My yearling greatgrand father is nbm but he's mentioned on both sides of her lineage in all 3 times

Little Un had Nebo Black Magic numerous times in his breeding and a couple of other stallions appeared more than once too. He was a very kind, gentle and sweet pony, but as he matured it became clear he as a metabolic mess and I can't help thinking the inbreeding was a factor in that.

I showed it to a friend who comes from a family that breed shires show horses ect said that would explain a few things with mine

@caz yours is still very young, don't be quick to label her. There's also going to be a healthy amount of outcross in her since she isn't a purebred D. People seem to get a bee in their bonnet about Nebo Black Magic in a pedigree making a horse scatty but I have to say that temperament wise Little Un was first class - he'd look after a small child or beginner while giving a capable rider a fun ride. I backed him myself and to say he was easy was an understatement. I suspect "all" you have is a partbred Welsh youngster, practice saying "really?" in a very bored tone and body language to match and always stay calm and patient - it's often easiest to bore them into compliance then reward the slighest positive move.

I didn't mean to label her she's turning into something very special not afraid of anything as such and gets herself into some tight spaces and very eager to learn. Her sire is a shire sports but unable to trace anything on that side as her sires details weren't on her passport I have messaged the breeder as her sire was owned by his brother asking for any information on him or his parents seems a shame not to know her other side linage

I'm in a similar situation with Luka's breeding @caz . I know the Welsh D side, but all I know about the stallion is a name and the he's Hackney x cob. Now originally I only had a name and I must confess I rather thought it was a case of a friend down the road having a colt that they decided to use on a mare before castrating - turns out I was very wrong. The man who bred the stallion had bred the line for generations and wouldn't reveal exactly how he was bred because there was such a demand for his stock in driving circles, driving friends who've seen him and his breeding think it's nearly criminal that I use him as a riding horse! Unfortunately the gentleman who bred the atallion is dead now so I can't talk to him, but I have done to the gentleman who bred Luka and it proved interesting since between them there were clear breeding plans and if I say so myself I have a very flashy, kind horse with good sound conformation though maybe a tad oversensitive for some people (I like the sensitivity, but I can see how it caused problems before).

Breeding isn't verything. It can give you some insights if used carefully but the most important thing is the horse in front of you.

I agree just wanted to know about the sports side I didn't know about that side until we went to pick her up and just after we got her on the trailer he said by the way I forgot to mention she's got sports horse in her aswell and was just interested that's all she's gonna be awesome once she's grown and backed which I'll be doing myself but not until she's 4 everything else we are working on slowly and if she's not ready at 4 then I will wait until she's 5
