Neue Schule Bits - Anyone use these and what do you think?

I've used them on a few horses. Our youngster is in a loose ring one and goes great in it, much more settled than he had been in previous bit. He did however make quite a few marks in it chewing the first few times - I think the metal is quite soft so not good for a regular chewer - our youngster soon settled with it though and no problems since.
My older horse however, HATED the one I got him (which was same cheekpiece and thickness etc, and as close to mouthpiece as possible) - but he is notoriously difficult to bit. What it was he disliked so much I'm really not sure - the metal type maybe? But he ran through it or threw his head up high to avoid contact with it.
He's happy in a cheaper, normal lozenged bit now...
12mm is quite a thin mouthpiece - more like a bradoon thickness really, just so you're aware =]. Normal snaffle mouthpieces would usually be 14-16mm, and the 18mm plus very thick mouthpieces for horses with lots of room in the mouth.

I had a parelli confidence bit on my horse and he hated it, I dashed off to a store to buy another ad bought a Neue Schule bit, I can't remember what its called but it is a full cheek snaffle and has copper segments in the bar (not loose)
I never noticed any wear through chewing either and I am totally happy with it.
I don't know anything about the style of bit your asking about ... sorry I can't give feedback for that.

blue has the ns verbindend snaffle, which has the tranz angled logenze, in 12mm. it is the only snaffle he goes well in, but i dont have a huge amount brakes in it, lol.
they do mark.. but i cant see there being a problem even if your horse is a chewer as all they do is mark.. they arent weak or able to be chewed through or anything.

I have to agree about the metal seems to be quite 'soft' on the neue schule bit that I have, when my boy mouthes the bit, he does chew it a little and there are some marks on it...
I find that he does go really well in it, I have the loose ring verbindend one. My favourite thing about the bits is that they come in 3/4 inch increments and my boy is a 5 3/4" and you cant really get this size in "cheaper" bits!
I agree that the shape of the bit definitely helps with softening and acceptance of the bit...I would say they are worth the money

My comment regarding softness is just that if the bit marks you need to be more aware than normal to keep an eye on the bit for sharp edges where it is chewed. Apart from the possibility of that, the softness leading to marks isn't a problem (and ours even though chewed haven't become sharp - but as I say it's something to keep an eye on)
i ride my mac in peaches bit that her horse hated and he loves it, the first day i put him in it he drooled before i even got on, he is very light in my hands and very responsive, i got my left rein back which i had been missing with my previous bit for some reason. mac rides lovely and light in this bit and works in a outline with ease, previously he leaned alot however not yet in this bit.
mac is out of action so i have lent the bit to my friend for a little while for her tb who is slightly strong jumping as i think he will love it also

My pony wears a NS 12mm Team Up bit with the lozenge and loose ring.
Yes, it is a narrow mouthpiece, but my pony has a low palate, large tongue, so not much room for a bit to sit comfortably and give clear signals.
She goes very well in this bit and ive been pleased with it so far.

I use the 14mm tranz lozenge. My horse also has a big mouth and tongue but the bit is fine, I wouldn't want a thinner one as it looks pretty thin already to me.
I rarely use anything else. Peri wears an eggbutt tranz snaffle or a verbindend loose ring snaffle - the latter mostly in her double bridle, which means rarely now as she is only plodding about quietly (she's almost 6 weeks preggers 
)
Tavia has a thinner forward ported weymouth and a pony verbindend for her double, eggbutt tranz in her snaffle. Only just switched her to the verbindend so may switch her snaffle over to that as well.

I've got a 5 3/4" NS 14mm French link Baucher trans angled Salox thingy. TBH I think P preferred her cheapy Cottage Craft bit but that was only 5 1/2" & it wasn't really wide enough, they don't do a wider one. The only bits with the mouthpiece I was after that I could find in 5 3/4" were NS or KK, and the NS was cheaper. I'm not 100% convinced that KK or NS are worth all the money but they are sometimes the only thing available if you need an 'in between' size.
