New 2026 Hacking / riding thread

This is lovely to read. Are you still at the same place.
Looking forward to seeing all the photos and fun you have to together.

Mine likes to deal with obstacles if we come across them, if you set it up that's not interesting. She loves poles though so all good there.

He's sooo wonderful
We got things bit more set yesterday
With a regular stall guard
To just use to get out the gate etc w wheelbarrow

Mr limbo lol snuck under the stall chain

And I got cross tie rings in

Omg Andi is in big time heat
Im going to make spot today for a baseline on him he's on 1/2 prasend

Yes Newforest we are at the same place
We moved to 10 years ago
After we lost Sonny my husband took all the obstacles all around the place and moved them out behind the barn🤮

THEY WILL BE GOING BACK...😃

Since I couldn't leave obstacles up in the little cavaletti pen near the goats because also use it
We made a semi round..round pen
Behind the paddock near where lots of stuff now is and I can go right into the back of the barn for banner flags etc
I can set up and leave things in there

My shorter girth is coming in a couple days

Just put one foot on front of the other.
It starts with one step.

Trying this idea out to get me motivated to do something with her in the mornings rather than my usual afternoons.

Literally did the shortest possible route which is 1/4 mile. Last five minutes uphill where she cleared her nose twice, perfect you use that part of your body I can't spell beginning with D and the phone can't either. (Diaphragm) 😆
I will do this four days a week and change it up when I get bored, add to it, put the saddle on, put one of the pads on.

It's almost as if she's at homeshe's that close by, but it's thrown us out of sync. Least she doesn't get whizzy if I turn up at sunrise anymore, and she isn't whizzy if I go twice or turn up in the evening!!

Thanks Garyb

Its been rough

Sweet Kinley my oldest goat
Picked up part of the slack
Sitting w him for grass etc
He loved to ride in the car to the vet
2 years ago he needed his teeth floated
Then he was having some trouble
With his numbers and maintaining weight
We could not stabilize numbers enough to possibly re float
He was ultra sounded to look for
Possible. Mass etc
Nothing
We lost him last September at 16.5 years
Really REALLY old for a goat

Andi never stepped up
At 24 she's never mellowed

The other goats
Are not inclined to like walking out and about
And they are all strong as bloody oxes....
KINLEY loved it

Night is perfect
So much of a SONNY personality
Safe and steady
Been there done that seen it all

We are taking it slow
Getting into routine

Plus my girth hasn't come yet

Andi has calmed down and back out of the instant heat

We are going to be a good team

Slow sounds a good way to go - get to know each other and have fun. It will be great to watch your journey together 😍

Rode out this morning.
Not sure on the distance, maybe half a mile. Far enough for three lots of trot and she opened herself up nicely on one part so let her get on with it.
Can't recall when last rode.
