New 2026 Hacking / riding thread

The heat has finally relented and we had a little bit of rain. On Thursday we boxed over and rode with my friend C (in the rain to start with!). Friday was a walk round the canter bridleway (much to Harvey's disgust - he wanted a canter but its still too hard). On Saturday we had a nice hack onto our local hill. By Sunday I was a bit achy so just a short hack

Gosh what is that wet looking stuff.
No wonder horse's are so suspicious of it. I have forgotten what it even is.
Did you look it up and find out 😆 🤣 😂

I got her out for a ride and although it was only a short one, we had some nice trots which wakes up the walk.
I paid attention to my position and keeping an eye on what I was up to.

Drum roll: I GOT BACK ON BOARD THE FUZZY ONE TODAY!
Its been a while to say the least!
After her abscess that wasn't an abscess followed by her accident and then her Cushings diagnosis and sore feet - well, she's been normal for a while now and the boots have helped enormously. I hopped on in the field so no boots required as she really only needs them at night when Zi moves her up onto the stones. Anyway, what a good girl. Honestly, I can live with her quirks / trashing / barging / clumsiness. The feeling of complete safety and happiness is priceless with her. And she felt so good and was moving grand. That's made my weekend 😍 🐴 😍

Hopped on again just for a little while today. What a wonder she is. Everyone should have a Fuzzy 😍 🐴
I love being around them and I love looking after them and I know how lucky I am. But being able to get on board is just the icing on the cake🧁I feel whole again❤️

I like just being with mine as well that's why we go out inhand. Sometimes I just don't need to be riding to enjoy my time with her.

I know what you mean. I spend hours on the yard pottering about with mine and I love it when Storm follows me or just stands close watching me do stuff (though I wish I could train her to sweep up lol).

We are moving paddocks this afternoon and she will just "know" I am doing something different and she might offer to hinder the process 😆

Good to be back on board. What a good girl. (I know she's a bit porky - we are working on that - yet her girth still went up fine so that's good that it did up to the normal).

I'm not nodding off honestly! Hahahaa, I think I was looking down at the saddle cloth as it had been put on skewed and it drives me nuts if it doesn't line up properly!

Well first it was the drought now its the rain! Rain stopped play on Thursday, but I managed a couple of the trips round the bridleway on Saturday and Sunday and its now soft enough for a little canter. Sunday was wet again so we went in the school for a bit. Harvey was very excited because he thought we were going to jump, sadly though because he was excited I didn't really have enough control to jump!

Got out for a nice ride. Met up with a new potential hacking buddy so I was a bit nervous on the way. But she was good.
She's not used to setting off at 8.30 on a Sunday.
I got to wear my new hi viz top with very generous length sleeves.
