New 2026 Hacking / riding thread

We had another trip to the forest - the flies were unusually bad, but it was lovely and quiet. On Friday we went for a little canter and then on Saturday a longer hack. On Sunday I had already decided not to go very far as my back was twinging, then the farmer was herding sheep (3 fields over) with much whistling and hooting so Harvey decided this was very frightening and jog trotted for the rest of the ride which didn't help my back at all!

You can choose to go over the bridge (which has a metal surface and is loud!) or...

Through the ford (which is pretty shallow at the moment)

Lovely scenery, and a troll bridge too!

I just love the idea of riding her to the farrier! How splendid and then you just hopped back on and took her home. Love it.
She gets to see lots of others as well sometimes lined up waiting their turn.
She's not always sure of the noise if one is being shod. But she always likes to be able to see what she can hear. Guess they are all like that?

We had a little trip to the South coast so only 2 days riding this week. We had a road hack on Saturday and a trip to the canter bridleway on Sunday The track to the field is growing nicely so I deployed Harvey to mow it which he did diligently :)

It's amazing really how grass just springs back isn't it.

A little plod just now - she was rather head tossy and snorty, I think it was a bit ambitious on my part as it was very soggy and very windy still. Last night it hammered down but its still okay to ride the field. But I think she had other ideas lol she didn't even stop for her ginger biscuit reward, she couldn't wait to go skipping off down the field to play and eat........... :D 🐴
