New 2026 Hacking / riding thread

Harmony hacked out Thursday Friday and today, she is doing a lot of playing in the field, galloping and bucking. Yesterday she and Scooby played, then the two donkeys cantered around together bucking and braying it was lovely to see them play. Zak is getting more confident, personality coming out. Can now walk up to him and touch him without him running away. Getting there slowly.

Sunny potterings today - school and field. Worked up quite an appetite (she did too hahaha). I felt obliged to have two ham sandwiches, a pot of coffee and a chocolate eclair for energy lol. No jacket needed today as well, wonderful warm sun. 🌞 😍 🐴

Very chilly but sunny here (and very windy) but managed a lovely little field potter. Good girl as she is. Lots of pats and a gingernut biscuit. So that's me for the day - will keep me happy 🐴 ❤️ 🌞

2 weeks worth of updates. After finding Harvey's pelvis was out he just had 2 light hacks
The chiro came and sure enough his pelvis was rotated which she soon put back, and his back was a bit tight too. After 2 days off I tried a short hack which went well, and then a couple of hacks with canters which were also ok, so he can go back into full work now

Glad he's back to full speed after the chiro.

Well like a woman possessed today I wasn't going to let anything stand in the way of a ride - given that we had bad storms coming tomorrow night right through for a few days. So, instead of pandering to the washing machine and the hoovering I tacked up and had a little potter. Its creepy calm here. But, there was a neighbour at one side with a contractor and a noisy chainsaw and at the other side something clattering and banging - but she was really good. I wasn't worried when I got on, I sort of take it for granted that she wouldn't mind. However, interestingly when I got off and put Zi out with her they both went looking to see what was going on with the chainsaw and remained transfixed for quite some time. So nice to know she was taking notice of me and not worrying and also listening even though it was a bit disturbing for her when I was on board. 🐴 ❤️

Look at the sky today! Its just a beautiful day - Mr T took lots of pictures and it will be nice to see them in the depths of winter to remind me that there are beautiful weather days here!

I've not been many pictures recently - must do better!
Thursday was a nice trip out to ride with C. We had a nice hack in the sun, with quite a few bridleways and a nice canter. Friday was very different. I tried to beat the storm and when I left home it was dry, but at the stables it was already raining. I decided to ride anyway much to Harvey's disgust and we hack round in driving rain for 45 minutes. I didn't see anyone else - I can't think why!
Saturday and Sunday was the storms so not safe to ride. We did have some excitement when the recently replaced stable roof started to lift, Harvey was out, but I had to evacuate his stablemate and hand graze him in the rain for 2 hours until the roofer arrived to fix things

Farrier visit.
Quickie walk and jog round the block to leg stretch.

I am over the moon with the fact she can just trot off up the road straight after a trim. Sound as a pound I think the saying goes.

Oh heck fancy having to hand graze for two hours! Blimey that was good of you. I used to hand graze Storm every morning- but we only managed an hour!

Lovely potter today - bit windy so avoided the school (ours has deep scary sides with cats and pheasants that leap out from time to time!) so went into the field. I always think she's better (and so am I) in a large open space. Good lass she was great and I'm so glad I did get on board. I almost chickened out but then the sun came out and I thought why not.

A very short potter today, mainly due to me, not her. It was sunny but very windy when we got into the field and I'm really over shadowed with worry about taking Husky to the vet in the morning, so my mind was wandering and she picked up the vibe I think. She didn't do anything wrong it was all on me. But anyway, tomorrow's another day and maybe another try for a ride once I know how things are going with H.
