New Forest Showing Turnout

I've seen Es's websire, and it is very good, but I couldn't find information on the state of the ponies.

I think I'm going to have a go at doing M&M ridden and inhand with a Newfie, but I don't know what sort of turnout is acceptable for the pony. I know about the tack, and the fact that the pony is not plaited, but I don't know about the lenth of mane and tail.

I've attached some photos of Lucky. The one below shows his current length of amena nd tail. Would they be OK, or should they be pulled slightly?

Also, any feedback on his conformation would be appreciated, even though he isn't parralell to the camera

you're best pulling for an NF - native breed socs all vary in what trimming they allow, so i just said see the breed soc rules!
you've seen the pics of petal - her mane is about 7-8 inches long, neatly pulled. her tail is pulled, but with the middle left long and much more hair left than i would on a riding pony. heels trimmed, although this is optional but petal's are long and straggly, bridlepath cut, jawline trimmed and whiskers optional. i trim but don't shave them.
i thought i had a bum shot of petal online but i can't find it - i will look on my computer tonight and if it shows her tail i'll post it.
this one shows her mane length reasonably well.

i personaly like tyo see them with slightly longer manes than in ES's pic but it realy depends what suits your horse,
Stan my connemara suits a mid length sort of mane (a little longer than the pic!) where as harvey suits his mane either realy short (plaitable length) or realy long (chest length!!). i would experiment takeing a little off at a time till you get to the length he suits but it should be an even length all the way down!! (or close too!) i cant help with the tail as both of mine have their tails left natural, they are just bandaged overnight before a show to give them a better shape!

I love the shorter manes best. So easy to keep. Solo's is aound 4", but it's hard to tell because it's so thick and flyaway. I plan to soon pull it, but I don't want to stress her out while she's so late in her pregnancy. Give her the easy life. Her tail was trimmed a long time ago, but it's growing down a little more now. It's around 4 inches below the hock.

Some people prefer their horse's manes to be short, and others prefer them to be longer, so I think it's up to the person to decide what looks best on their horse.

It is most common to see more pulled manes on NF's but as Kanuma said I'd take it off gradually and see what looks best. It will always grow back if it looks to short.

I wuld leave some feather on, but possibly thin them a bit if they are dense. Taff has lots of feather so i thin his a bit with a razor, also if there is any hair over the coronet band i trim that too, but not in a straight lne like a bowl cut If you cut upwards towards the legs that saves any sharp lines.
