I'm so sick of my stirrup leathers stretching i have decided to get a pair of the nylon core stirrup leathers.

I have seen some that have nylon core but made of buffalo leather. I was always told to avoid buffalo as it stretches and is not great. If they have the nylon core would they be ok or would it be better to go for a different type?

Any recommendations?

What colour? I have some brown Bates ones I'd like to get rid of because they don't match any of my tack, they are a funny colour and are very long though

I also have some Barnsby ones and some Prestige ones, I think the Barnsbys have the edge in quality. The Prestige ones are very soft and the leather on the side you can't see has gone a bit tatty! :o None of them have stretched though :)

I have these! They are lovely and soft, don't stretch and aren't that bulky. My only complaint is they scuff very easily. I marked them trying to get them on my saddle (but it's a very old saddle with rust on the stirrup bars!)
:D

Thanks for replies :)

Im looking for havanna ones but need short ones as im only 5'2" with short legs! Next battle is finding the perfect length! Need to measure mine and get a smaller pair as i've had to punch holes as they stretched so much!!:o

I bought a pair of stirup leathers from ebay a few months ago that are leather on the top and Nylon underneath, they have been great and not stretched at all. They were only about £10 with the postage too, so a lot cheaper than the ones with nylon core, but they still look like leather:)

Bays R Best - I did see some on ebay for £7.50 and the most expensive being about £45.00!! A very wide price range!

Thanks for replies :D

They do not stretch...but i will make a comment. Particularly if you are shorter, make sure that the stirrups have enough holes! We have several pairs of these at my barn, and I don't know if its just the ones we have, but it is incredibly difficult to punch holes in the stirrups (hole punchers do not work). Just an FYI!
