Positive vibes needed on behalf of my friend Loulou1972, who posts on NR occasionally.

I have just come home after visiting her in hospital where she is recovering after surgery following a riding accident. Not the horse's fault in the least.
He was lovely and was really careful to avoid treading on her while she writhed in agony under his tummy.

Loulou's leg has been reconstructed with most of a Macarno set, plus a bone graft. Problems at airport security in the future:eek: She has been told no skiing (which is not a problem as she doesn't ski anyway) and NO RIDING EVER again, she is trying to stay cheerful but events are making her feel very down. It doesn't help that she was waiting from Sunday to Thursday in absolute agony while she was waiting for the NHS to find a specialist willing to carry out the surgery.

I am hoping that the consultant is just being over cautious and that she will eventually be able ride again, even if things like jumping are off the menu.

I'm hoping that all you lovely NR people will send positive vibes Loulou's way to wish her a good and speedy recovery.

Oh good grief, how awful the poor girl and her family! What devastating news too :(

How on earth did it happen?

Please send loads of best wishes and cyber hugs for a speedy recovery, bless her heart :)

hugs Loulou.I wish you a speedy recovery and hope all goes well for you.It may well be a case of the surgeon being overcautious at this stage. It really depends on how well the injury heals. My friend also had a fall which resulted in her having her leg pinned back together and it was a long time before she was able to walk again let alone ride, but 2 years down the line she is now back in the saddle. She was told by one doctor that she could never ride again but another one said although the risk of reinjury was greater and there was a possibility of her losing her leg because of it,if she wanted to ride provided as she took all reasonable precautions there was no reason she shouldn't.

Give her my best wishes.
Sounds like it will be a long slow recovery for her.
Tell her not to be too down about the news regarding riding. It's very early days, and who knows what the future will hold. She needs to stay positive and concentrate on getting as well and fit as she possibly can over the next few months.

Anyway, when will these doctors learn  ; it's not the riding that's dangerous at all, it's the falling off :o :)

ETA: Where is she hospitalised?
