Post Rashid Poles - updated update

Today we tried something different. We long reined over the poles! I kept them in yesterday's configuration - a hollow square with a lead in pole on 2 sides. Ziggy didn't duck out, didn't stop, and barely rushed. He was so good that I stopped him in the box and asked for a turn on the haunches and came out the way we went in.

I am so pleased with him. Honestly I'm not sure what has happened. I have a hacking lesson tomorrow and the poles are on the way out of the field - perhaps I'll ride over them!

The miracle of Mark.....

So, so pleased for you and Ziggy. You'll be show jumping yet!!

It is so nice to hear your taking it slow and easy!.
Sadly I knew someone who bought a dressage horse when they wanted a jumper.
This horse was terrified of poles and when trying to get him to go over them if he touched
one he would freak out and bolt off.
It got worse when they decieded to hire a trainer associated with a well known
International person- no name will be given.
This person had the poor horse in a round pen with raised poles (cavaletti) - omg it was awful
she chased this horse around terrified to the point it tried to jump out of the round pen.
It was totally horrible.

I would not have let that person within a mile of my horses!
