As some of you might know, i am tryong to sell my neighbors horse for them.

I have a ton of people to call back, but I am nervous.

What are some questions I should be asking them?

Do you have any other horses?

if not are you going to board him somewhere that does?

Are you willing to sign a 'first refusal/buy back' contract?

How much experince do you have?

what else???????

Here's his add:

How old are you?
Why do you think you can offer him the good training that he needs?
Do you have transport or do you need us to take him to you?

Not being funny but I'd want a reference, I read too much of FuglyHorse and I'm very wary of people who'd want to buy him then sell him on to a meatman.

He sounds lovely, your ad broke my heart when you said that if he can't sell they'll send him for meat. :(

Well, he'll go to a sale, which in my mind, older green broke-diffcult to handle-big arse horse = meat man.

I think meat wise, he would only go for $3-400, so at $600 firm I"m hoping I dont' get any low lifes like that.

How do you go about getting a reference? what kind of reference?

Talk to a someone who's not related that knows them and their horse care abilities, like a yard owner. Only do if you think they're a bit dodgy though or you want to make sure he'll be ok.

I would ask any buyers what they what they plan on doing with him, you should hopefully get some insight into their expectations of horse and how knowledgeable they are by their answers.

Good luck
