Seen as I've had to start bringing my two in a month earlier than normal- due to the bloody weather and the fact that my paddock looks like a rice field- my mind has wandered onto the subject of my turnout rugs. (also, all the winter stock- rugs, clothing etc has started coming in at work ready for winter!!)

Red has the Rambo Wug Plus- got it reduced to £130 in a sale last year, and as it's red, Red had to have it!! So he's sorted!

It's not a warm enough rug for Solo though, and this year I've decided that I'm not going to have time fannying about layering rugs up on a morning, so I need something thick and warm. I will get staff discount off whatever rug I decide on, so for once, money doesn't matter.

So I would really appreciate it if you could all tell me about your views/experience with either of the aforementioned rugs.

Have the duo, nice rug, can put different weight liners in so can be just a lightweight turnout, medium turnout or heavyweight turnout.

We used the Duo last year for my son's cob Toby & it was excellent - thoroughly recommend. Only drawback was neck cover was too tight for him - seem a bit small for the size of rug. He's a cob but not very chunky for a cob at all. Apart from that - excellent. Can't comment on Supreme as haven't had / got one.

I've got the Duo as well, with several liners (100g, 300g and 400g) giving me variety from lightweight to medium weight to heavyweight. I like the fact that I don't have to pile up several rugs to make it a heavy weight which makes the rug stay in place better. And the removable neck piece is great too, and I think it is possible to get that in different weights as well..? I never had any problems of the neck piece fitting and I've got a chunky TB with a very un-TB like neck.

Only problem I found with it is that since my horse was living out 24/7 and has very high whithers, at the end of the winter/late spring time it gave her a rug rub. I think the major cause for this (on top of the lenghtened period of needing a rug due to crap weather) was the seem on the neck opening weighing on her neck, so for next winter I am planning on getting a rug that has a seemless neck already attached to rug for the coldest part of the winter, and use my Duo only during autumn and spring.

I have a rambo supreme (well, bought 2 really...)
I will say that it's a nice rug but I feel it wasn't worth the money ...
The lining is completely non-rub though but beware as it sizes very badly !

A 6'3" fits my short-backed 15.2hh QH (who usually has ample room in a 6'0" weatherbeeta or masta) until he lowers his head - especially when the neck cover is on ! The whole rug shifts forwards and he has a drafty bottom !

I did put the rug a few days on my young arab last winter with the minus 10 ++ we had. It was alot too big for him but never slipped over or rubbed.

Neck cover is well cut and nice to put on and off with large double velcro.
