Anyone used Red Horse Products Hoof Stuff on their horse? Opinions? Fighting a losing battle with my horse’s very deep central sulcuses – have tried milton, sudacrem, hydrogen peroxide, vinegar etc etc you name it, with no luck – the thrush keeps on returning with a vengeance and horsey is slowly getting very irritated with all the faffing around his feet (otherwise he is healthy, happy and sound).

Hi haven't tried the Red Horse Products but have come across really bad thrush. A lady I used to work for had dressage horses that lived in (clean beds) and had very deep feet especially round the frogs. We used to oak there feet in warm strong salt water, and keep the feet clean while they dry. ( they must dry or it doesn't work). we used to then put on Stockham Tar, to make sure that it gets deep in beside the frog we used parcle string. (Dip it in the tar and poke down beside the frog). The stickiness of the tar should keep the string in place. (I didn't say it wasn't messy). Sounds mad but try it it does work. Repeat as the Tar wears off. It should keep the feet dry and clean and give it chance to clear up.

Yes, I've used it both for deep central sulci and for seedy toe cavities :) It's good stuff, but a bit fiddly to work with. You need scissors, IME, to sort of chop off chunks of it, and it's very sticky and gets all over you. On a positive note, it clearly smells and tastes nice as my horse tries to lick it off my hands :D

My best success with infected central sulci was the (capalldubh patented ;)) make-up remover pad method. Get some cheap make-up remover pads, cut in half, soak in neat cider vinegar. Clean foot as usual, squirting diluted cider vinegar into crevices, then pack each with one of the soaked make up pads. Replace every day :) Cheap treatment ;)

I just started using it. I have honeyheal which has been fantastic for some wounds she suffered last week, it stuck on and kept flies at bay but helped it heal nicely.

I also have the sole cleanse and field paste, I really like the products, natural and not too strong, as for results too early to say for me but I like the product itself so far!

What is your routine for dealing with it? Lily had very bad thrush and I am slowly clearing it up but have been using lots of different things!

I had an operation and was unable to do her feet for 4 weeks, when I could they were in an awful state and I used a Frog Health spray to get on top of ithttp://www.millbryhill.co.uk/equestrian-530/horse-care-products-588/horse-hoof-products-612/net-tex-frog-health-5467.htm

I didn't really want to as it is very strong but it was so bad and I once the worst was gone my theory was to keep using sudacream and manuka honey every day so as the good tissue doesn't get infected, it seems to have worked!

The consistency of my sudacream manuka honey wasn't great though and I liked the sound of the field paste for that reason and it really does get in all the cracks and crevices as required.

So my routine now is hibiscrub each day spray with sole cleanse and the put the field paste in all the crevices, her feet are looking the best they have for a while with some good looking frogs! (6 months ago she didn't really have an frogs)! I plan to reduce the scrubbing to 3 times a week soon, my EP is out end of the week so will wait to see what he thinks
