Cruelly taken very suddenly today, leaving us heartbroken. My first dog and will be so missed. All the miles I followed the pom pom tail. I took you on some of your really favourite walks by the river in the last few weeks, so glad I did that, didn't get you to holy island, one of your best places. May scatter your ashes there if I don't plant a tree for you here in the garden. Can't get my head round the fact that tonight no poodle to cuddle, listen to your snores and shoving your over so there is a bit of duvet for people.

You were a totally amazing poodle, daft as a brush, my dog. You know how much I loved you, you didn't know how much I am going to miss you.poodle driving.jpg

It was so awful and sudden. Yes he lived with pancreatis, thyroid issues, and most recently a dicky heart, as well as having stem cells x 3 times, 2 x steroid spine injections, 3 eye surgeries Cost a fortune. But he was still out walking for an hour, full of himself. On Tuesday he started bleeding from his mouth rushed to vet. At first thought it might be one of his teeth so he was sedated and they tried to stem the bleeding. but failed. Then the second vet came to see us and said that she didn't think it was the teeth, particularly as the bloods they had run showed very low platelets. She said she had a bad feeling about it. All she could do was re-run the bloods and send to an external lab and see if they found more but we couldn't bring him home in case he bled to death, and he would have created in kennels if he had to stay. She thought there might be a cancerous mass so he was pts. Ironically another poodle owner told me she lost 2 the same way, sudden bleeding wouldn't clot and vet thought it would be a tumour on the spleen. He was the most wonderful boy, had him from 1 year old when he arrived from Orkney not house trained terrified and turned into the most go anywhere happy poodle. Millie was nearly gone two weeks ago, thought we would lose her but never thought he would go like that, he was so well. When we last saw his vet 4 weeks ago, asked him that he thought about his prospects given his newly diagnosed heart defect, he said 2-3 months but looking at him 1-2 years and something else may get him before the heart does. Instead it was 2-3 weeks. Just can't believe it and trying to find another standard poodle as Millie is lost.
