Rose hip help

OK Wally am I understanding this right????? You can just go and pick them and eat them right off the bush?
(humans and horses) can eat them that way??

I'm interested in thoughts on that as well. A few of those might be great for the new place.

Yes I just pick them off the bushes and nibble the fleshy bits off, spit out the fuzzy seeds. The rosa rogosa ones are really sweet and yummy. You have to be careful as the seeds are really hairy and prickly and they make you cough if you get them stuck.
The horses and me just eat them off the bushes.

Irrelevant, but this has reminded me of the rose hip syrup my Mum used to give us when we were tiny. For the Vitamin C I think. It was yummy!
I was just going to say the same Calluna, we used to have home made rosehip syrup swirled into our rice pudding on a Sunday too!

I've offered Belle rosehips before but she won't eat them, she just eats the leaves and stems and leaves the hips. Although one of her favourite things are hawthorn berries and blackberries.

For those interested in rose hips I practiced loading with Ziggy today using freshly picked hips (dog rose because they are what I have in the garden) as a reward. He worked very hard for them and found them a good distraction when the bangy clanky trailer made him anxious. Highly effective!
