I have had my 14.2 bay mare middleweight cob cross for 11 weeks now, but the nights are drawing in and winter is around the corner so i am thinking of buying her a winter turn out rug.
Her previous owner has told me her rug size is 6ft but this looks huge as my sisters horse is 15.2 cob x tb and his rug size is 6ft, he is alot bigger than her and this will drowned her. has anyone got a 14.2 middleweight cob x if so what size rug fits them just some suggestions would be great:confused:

Why don't you just measure her?
But my 15.1 Welsh D is a 6ft and my 14hh Cob was a 5ft9 so I wouldn't be surprised if yours is a 6ft :)

hey

if you measure her from very front - middle of her chest round to her tail you'll get her size :-)

I can get you a really good deal on shires rugs if you fancy one.... :-)

Also my 15.2 HW cob is in a 6'3 and my 17hh shire X is only 6'6" some time no easy to work out!!!

Why dont you try your sisters 6ft rug on and see how big it comes up?? Remembe you want it loose otherwise it will pull on his chest and wither area and create some nasty rubs through the Winter...:(

My 14 2hh cob is in 6ft rugs. You will be surprised how big you need cause a cob's chest takes up a good amount of rug length..

Hi-
I would try a rug and see or measure the horse!
With rugs it depends on make and horses build. I have a 14'2 newfie/arab who takes a 5'9 but my friends sec D of same height was 6'3!
My 15'2 arab is 5'9 and hubby 15'2 cob is 6'9.

completely agree:) If its any help my 12.3hh welsh was in a 5' 6"! so 6ft sounds about right

i just tried my sisters horses rug on which is 6ft and it is really loose on the chest and comes down really low nearly to her knees.
it is far to big it drowns her

My cob mare is also 14.2h and I have her in a 6ft rug which fits perfectly. I find Shires rugs fit her really well.

My 14.2hh Welsh D x takes a 5ft 9 - it really depends on the make though, you could go up or down a size depending on how it is cut. Some fit deeper than others and bigger on chest. Molly has huge shoulders so she needs generous rugs - Premier Equine fit her best.

I'd measure her and then try a few different makes to see which fits best. If you try it on over another rug you can take it back :)

My 14.3 mw cob build takes a 6'3 however he looks fine in my 6'6 rug that fits on a 17.2 id/tb

something must be wrong with em :o:p
